Social Cash Transfer to Get Wider

Community Development Minister DOREEN MWAMBA says her ministry will increase the number of social cash transfer beneficiaries, in order to improve the lives of the vulnerable.

Speaking when she paid a courtesy call on Muchinga Province Minister HENRY SIKAZWE, Ms. MWAMBA said the government wants to see more vulnerable people benefiting from the social protection program the government is offering.

She says currently, over 1.3 million households are benefiting from the Social Cash Transfer program.

And Ms. MWAMBA says her ministry has paid off all the outstanding areas for social cash transfer.

She said it is the government’s desire to see more people on social cash transfer and Food Security packs to improve  life at household level.

And Muchinga Province Deputy Permanent Secretary MATHEWS
CHILEKWA who received the minister on behalf of the provincial minister, advised officers from the ministry of Community Development to follow up on the beneficiaries of social protection programs.

Earlier the Minister interacted with some beneficiaries of the social cash transfer and Food Security pack in Chief Mwenge’s chiefdom in Shiwangandu constituency.

And Chief Mwenge has praised the government for paying social cash transfer and giving food security packs on time.

Chief Mwenge said the social protection program has transformed and improved the lives of people in his chiefdom.
