SKILLS DEVELOPMENT CRITICAL

Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe says government is committed to empowering citizens especially youths with skills to help them thrive in society.

Mr Nundwe says skills empowerment will help reduce poverty and vulnerability and also contribute to achieving the objectives of the seventh National Development Plan -SNDP.

ZANIS reports that the Permanent Secretary said this in a speech read on his behalf by Masaiti District Commissioner Patrick Zulu at the Third graduation Ceremony held at Masaiti community development skill training center today.

Mr Nundwe said President Edgar Lungu has emphasized on skills development to ensure that practical skills are imparted in the youths and adults to better their livelihood.

He further encouraged the graduates to go out and put into practice the skills they have acquired by setting up small business ventures.

And Speaking Earlier Acting Provincial Community Development Officer Stephen Chiti said the Masaiti Community development training center has started a pine plantation as a long-term sustainability strategy which will partly resolve some of the challenges the institution has been.

Mr. Chiti added that the school has also started securing additional land where to establish business ventures.
