SINAZONGWE MP CALLS ON MINISTRY OF ENERGY TO SURVEY SUSPECTED OIL DEPOSITS IN GWEMBE VALLEY

By Mastone Moonze

Sinazongwe Member of Parliament Gift Sialubalo is appealing to the Ministry of Energy to take keen interest and survey the suspected oil deposits along Gwembe Valley in Southern Province.

Mr. Sialubalo tells Phoenix News that the country has records indicating that late first republican president Dr. Kenneth Kaunda had engaged investors from Europe that wanted to venture into oil refining in Gwembe District a long time ago.

He says this calls for the Ministry of Energy to constitute a team of experts to go and collect samples of suspected oil deposits in Gwembe District and establish an oil manufacturing company if at all the samples are positive.

Mr. Sialubalo says despite previous oil samples collected under the patriotic front government coming out negative, he strongly feels Gwembe valley is gifted with oil deposits and fresh samples should thereby be carried out.
