SHARPEN SKILLS-YALUMA

Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Christopher Yaluma has challenged officers in the procurement sector to sharpen their skills so that public and private institutions do not lose money when procuring goods and services.
Mr. Yaluma says it is important that supply chains are professional and account for contracts to ensure the country saves resources in line with austerity measures.
He says this can be done by observing management and administration of contracts until projects are completed.
Mr. Yaluma notes that the country has seen poor workmanship on infrastructure being handed over to Government.
The minister was speaking at the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply -ZIPS- awards gala dinner in Lusaka last night.
And ZIPS President Chibwe Mwelwa said the institute will continue to fulfill its mandate to train and regulate the conduct of procurement professionals in Zambia.
Mr. Mwelwa said it is important that every individual working in the procurement and supply sector is registered.
During the ceremony ZNBC Director General Richard Mwanza was among nine people who were conferred with an honorary fellow membership for his dedication to the growth of the procurement and supply profession and for being instrumental in promoting visibility of procurement and supply in the country.
In accepting the conferment Mr. Mwanza thanked staff at ZNBC for their commitment in ensuring information on the institute is disseminated.
And Ministers of Commerce Christopher Yaluma and Transport and Communications Brian Mushimba were among the nine conferred with the Honorary fellow membership to ZIPS.
