SCRIBES URGED TO DEMAND FOR BETTER PERKS

By Hector Simfukwe

The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU- has urged unions representing the media industry to demand for better conditions of service for Journalists.

ZCTU First Deputy President JOSEPH CHEWE says it is sad that some Journalists have poor conditions of service despite being critical to national development.

Mr. CHEWE says unions in the media industry should encourage Journalists to join them.

He said this in his message to Journalists on World Press Freedom Day.

And Flava FM Manager JAMES CHISHINJI appealed to government to enact the Access to Information Bill.

Mr. CHISHINJI told ZNBC news that those in public offices should make it easy for the media to access key information.
