SCHOOLS GET READY FOR RE-OPENING

By Mary Kachepa

Schools in Lusaka have heightened preparations in readiness for reopening on January 24th after a postponement due to the high Covid-19 cases.

A check by ZNBC at Munali Boys Secondary found the School being painted after which it will be fumigated.

Munali Boys Head Teacher ESAU NKHOMA said the preparations are on course and management will ensure pupils are safe when they return to school.

And Mr NKHOMA said getting grants from government for the abolished tuition fees will help Schools plan better.

He said previously it was difficult to collect tuition fees from grades 9, 11 and 12 because most pupils only paid on time at grade 8 and 10 levels.

Meanwhile a parent IGNATIUS ZIWA said he looks forward to the reopening of schools as the longer the children stay at home, the more negative effects on their progression.

Another parent GRACE CHIPAKU said parents should do their part to compliment the efforts by the schools by providing children with face masks and sanitizers when going to school.

And some pupils going into grades eight and ten were found at schools collecting acceptance forms.

PATRICIA MWANZA said she can’t wait for schools to open and advised her fellow pupils to follow the Covid-19 guidelines.
