Santorini Investments Limited found with case to answer

The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has found Santorini Investments Limited Company and its Director VICTOR MWANSA with a case to answer on 112 counts of tax offences.

The accused are facing 112 counts of making false returns and statements.

Facts of the case are that the accused on dates unknown but between September 2018 and September 2022 in Kitwe, provided tax invoice numbers to Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- purporting to show that the company had been supplied with taxable supplies by various Copperbelt based companies when in fact not.

Santorini Investments Limited and Mr. MWANSA 33, during the same period fraudulently recovered about K18.8 million Value Added Tax and K3.3 million interest by providing false returns.

The returns indicate that taxable supplies were made to Santorini Investments Limited by various Copperbelt based companies when in fact not.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Court sitting in Kitwe on circuit from Lusaka adjourned the case for the accused persons to commence their defence.
