SAMFYA INT’L CONVENTION CENTRE WORKS ON COURSE

(ZANIS) Phase ONE of the construction of an International Convention Centre in Samfya District – Luapula Province is expected to be completed in March this year.

Under this phase, Workers Compensation Fund Control Board is constructing a beachfront lodge to be handed over to the town council.

According to Workers Compensation Fund Control Board Corporate Affairs and Customer Services Manager MAYBIN NKOLOMBA, the second phase which involves the construction of a 2-thousand capacity seater international convention center will commence soon.

Mr. NKOLOMBA, who visited the construction site in Samfya, said the project will also include a three star hotel and a shopping mall on the shores of Lake Bangweulu.

He expressed happiness at the quality of works executed so far by the contractor.

Meanwhile, Mr. NKOLOMBA has predicted a boom in tourism in the northern circuit with the amount of infrastructure being constructed to support the industry.

He noted that as a social security scheme, Workers Compensation Fund Control Board will continue participating in the economic development of the country especially in tourism.

Mr. NKOLOMBA said the International Conventional Centre in Samfya will have the capacity to rival some of the most renowned facilities in the SADC region by hosting high level summits.
