SADC TELLS CONGOLESE TO REMAIN CALM

The SADC leadership has called on the people of Democratic Republic Congo -DRC- to remain calm as the Constitutional Court determines the disputed presidential election results.
SADC leaders have also urged DRC political stakeholders to help consolidate democracy and stability in the wake of political unrest triggered by the disputed elections.
This is contained in a joint communique signed at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa after the SADC Double Troika that was combined to consider the unstable political situation in the DRC.
SADC leaders have since resolved to continue supporting DRC efforts to address the political challenges as well as neutralize the negative forces in the Eastern DRC.
ZNBC’s Kennedy Bwalya reports that President Edgar Lungu who is the Chairman of the SADC Troika on Politics, Defence and Security and South Africa President Cyrial Ramaphosa, AU chairman Paul Kagame, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni were among 16 heads of state and government who attend the
ADC Double Troika and the AU high Level Consultative Heads of State Summit called to review the tense political situation in DRC.
