SABOBO braces Zambia into COSAFA U-17 Championship final

Skipper Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda scored a brace to guide the Zambia U-17 national team to the final of the COSAFA U17 Youth Championship 2021 at the ongoing Region V Games in Lesotho.

A second-half performance from Sabobo and his teammates secured passage to this evening’s final following a 3-1 win over neighbors Malawi.

The Athletico Lusaka forward put Zambia in the lead in the 50th minute thanks to some individual brilliance before Mathews Banda could double the lead eight minutes later with a fine free-kick.

Malawi pulled one back through Blessings Kanowa in the 68th minute following miscommunication at the back, becoming the first team to score against the Young Copper Bullets at the tournament.

Sabobo was however back at it again in the 87th minute to complete his brace and sealing a comfortable with for Zambia.

Zambia will face either Angola or Eswatini in the finals of the COSAFA U17 Boys Championship 2021 which is slated at 19:00hrs.
