SABLES EMERGE CHAMPIONS AS PRISONS GETS SECOND BEST PLACED IN THE KABWE PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT

Football Association Of Zambia(FAZ) Central Province Zone 1 side Sables Nua Girls Academy Football on Saturday 26th September 2020 emerged as champions after they engaged in some pre-season practice matches in a 4-team friendly Tournament which had teams such as Driven Queens, Prison leopards women team FC (formerly Correctional Queens) and Makululu Girls that was hosted at Kasanda Police Ground in Kabwe.

The Nua girls were the tournament’s favorite and they rose to the occasion winning 2 games and drawing the third one.

Nua girls started their match on a positive note as they proved too powerful for Driven Queens who failed to negotiate a curve as they won 3-nil, Felistus Phiri was the hero of the day with a brace while Agnes Phiri scored the other goal for Nua Girls before battling to a scoreless draw against newcomers in the League in Prison Leopards Women Football Club who recently changed their name from Correctional Queen.

The Coach Abel Kay Singogo drilled lasses winded up their match by posting another win with a 2-1 scoreline over Makululu Girls thanks to another brace from the team but this time around it was Gift Chisenga who found the back of the net twice to make sure the team end the tournament as the best side on goal difference and keep their confidence levels high as they prepare for the upcoming matches under the new normal.

Other results that were recorded saw the likes of Prison Leopards who were the second-best team missing with a whisker on goals edging Makululu Girls and Driven Queens with a narrow 1-nil victory in both matches while Makululu Girls edged winless Driven Queens 2-nil.
