Rupiah Banda Remembered

By Sharon Siame

The family of late President RUPIAH BANDA says it remembers the former President as a selfless man who always thought about others.

Family Representative FISHO MWALE says the former President was a highly educated man who could bring himself down to the level of a common person.

He has described Mr. BANDA as an inspirational Pan African leader.

Mr MWALE said this during a thanksgiving memorial service in honor of Late RUPIAH BANDA held at Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka today.

And in a tribute read by Mr. MWALE, Zambia’s Ambassador to South Korea ANDREW BANDA said he thanked God for giving them a father who raised his children with patience and love.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross Father CHARLEY THOMAS urged the family to remain focused and continue their divine purpose in life.

Fr. THOMAS said renewal of the mind was the legacy of Former President BANDA and that he was a transitional person who adapted to any prevailing situation.

He urged the family to rely on God as they remember him.

Mr BANDA, who was President from 2008 to 2011, died on March 11, 2022 at the age of 85.
