Rupiah Banda in Philadelphia to attend the National Convention of the Democratic Party

FORMER Zambian President Mr. Rupiah Banda has arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, to attend the National Convention of the Democratic Party (DNC)

Speaking on arrival Philadelphia, Mr. Banda said he was honored to have been invited to attend the Democratic National Convention adding that he hoped to learn from the interactions at the convention.

Mr. Banda noted that he had during his term of office, interacted with the presumptive democratic nominee Mrs. Hilary Clinton who visited Zambia during his tenure as head of state.

He observed that Zambia was a young democracy whose participation at such Conventions would help contribute to the country’s young democracy.

Mr. Banda applauded President Edgar Lungu and his Government for having facilitated the trip and commended the Zambian Embassy to the United States and the Permanent Representative to the UN for the delightful welcome.

The former Head of State was met in Philadelphia by outgoing Ambassador to the U.S. Palan Mulonda and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission James Chisenga.
