Ruling UPND Scoops MUKUBWE ward by-election

The ruling UPND has won the MUKUBWE ward by election in NGABWE District.

This is after UPND’S ALICK LUMINGU polled 678 with CHRISTOPHER KABUNDA of the Socialist Party coming in second position with 178 votes.

Patriotic Front candidate ERICK CHIYUNI came out in third position with 66 votes.

Returning Officer JOSEPH KALOLA announced the results around 22 hours last night.

And addressing the supporters after the declaration of results, new MUKUBWE Ward Councillor ALICK LUMINGU thanked the people in his area for backing him in the campaign.

And UPND National Chairperson COLLINS MAOMA said the victory is testimony that the people of ZAMBIA have confidence in the leadership of President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.

Meanwhile, Nangoma Member of Parliament COLLINS NZOVU and his LUFUBU Counterpart WEBSTER KOLALA said Central Province is now a UPND stronghold.

The MUKUBWE Ward by election was held in the wake of the death of Councillor CHRISPIN HIMUNTANGA of UPND who died in August this year.
