RTSA Rolls Out Three Lane Initiative

By Masauso Mkwayaya

The Road Transport and Safety Agency-RTSA- in collaboration with the Lusaka City Council have rolled out a three lane initiative on the Great East Road to improve the flow of traffic.

The initiative utilises an extra lane from east bound traffic during peak hours in the morning so that west bound vehicles heading towards the Central Business District have three lanes.

RTSA Acting Head of Public Relations MUKELA MANGOLWA says the initiative is a short term measure which will be reviewed depending on the outcome.

In an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. MANGOLWA said motorists using the improvised lane will be required to drive at a lower speed and should therefore observe speed limits that have been installed for the exercise.

He said RTSA will be engaging the Road Development Agency-RDA- for a long term solution to the traffic situation.
