Registrar Of Societies Recognizes Mutati As MMD President
The Registrar of Societies has recognized Felix Mutati as Movement for Multi Party Democracy, putting an end to fallen clergy Nevers Mumba’s hope of going with the party to UPND.
Registrar of Societies Thandiwe Mhende said she had acted on the notice of new office bearers served on her by the new MMD national secretary Raphael Nakachinda.
The move further casts Mumbaís claim on the MMD carcass further down the drain after he took a pocket of his supporters to the opposition United Party for National Development.
Mhende said the Mutati faction had furnished her office with the relevant documentation to back their claim to the MMD.
On Saturday the MMD faction under Mutati held a convention in Kabwe which Mumba shunned but was attended by former President Rupiah Banda.
Mutati has since resolved to back the ruling Patriotic Frontís Edgar Lungu while Mumba is backing the UPNDís Hakainde Hichilema.
Mumba garnered less than 15, 000 of the total national votes in the 2015 elections when he insisted on contesting the elections.
