“REGISTER BIRTHS AND DEATHS”

The Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship Principal says most children under the age of five in Zambia are not registered.

Speaking during the launch the National Civil Registration and vital statistics policy, Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU said it is important that all births are registered.

Mr. MWIIMBU further said it is important for all deaths to be registered with the department to enable the state account for its citizens.

He said that policy will also serve as a basis for future legal review activities.

Meanwhile United Nations Resident Coordinator BEATRICE MUTALI congratulated government saying statistics are key in monitoring Sustainable Development Goals and many other developmental plans and targets.
