REFRAIN FROM DRUG ABUSE-KAMPYONGO

By Christabel Lumingu:Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo says there is need to create conducive environments to help young people refrain from drug abuse and trafficking.Mr. Kampyongo has warned that unless children and youths are empowered with right information, Zambia will continue to fight drug abuse and trafficking.He said this during the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking at the International School of Lusaka.And UN Resident Coordinator, Coumba Gardio said preventing and addressing drug challenges in all sectors is essential to delivering on a fundamental global pledge enshrined in the sustainable development goals.Dr. Gardio said the UN is committed to supporting Zambia to work and promote balanced health and rights based on approaches to drug challenges.And Drug Enforcement Commission-DEC- Commissioner Alita Mbahwe disclosed that 2-hundred and 95 children in 2018 were arrested for drug related offences.
