REFEREES’ ALLOWANCES INCREASED

By Wilson Mulinda

The Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- has increased allowances for referees and other match officials for the Super League, and National Division One teams.

FAZ General Secretary ADRIAN KASHALA says this follows an Executive Committee meeting held on October 9, 2021.

KASHALA says the upward revision has been done in consultation with various stakeholders, with clubs being sounded out during two Consultative meetings held before the commencement of the 2021/2022 season.

He says the revision of fees was part of the continuous process of improving the operating environment for match officials.

KASHALA has disclosed that referees will now get 2,200 Kwacha while assistant referees will now be getting 1,800 Kwacha.

Previously reefers were  getting 1000 Kwacha while their assistants were getting 900 Kwacha respectively.

He says the match commissioners will get 2,500 Kwacha while the reserve referee will pocket 2,200 Kwacha for the Super League.

KASHALA says the new match officiating fees will take effect on October 30th, 2021.

The FAZ General Secretary adds that Football House has also taken note of concerns around match officiating and is working hard to rectify the problems.

This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC news by FAZ Communications Manager SYDNEY MUNGALA.
