PTAZ contributed over US$60M to economy in last three years

The Petroleum Transportation Association of Zambia says it has contributed over US$60 million to the country’s economy in the last three years through transportation charges.

Association Secretary General Benson Tembo says despite some stakeholders having no confidence in the local fuel transporters, they have during the same period recorded growth in the number of tankers from 50 to 340.

Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understating between his association and Micro Finance Limited Zambia, Mr. Tembo has attributed his association’s achievements to government’s support and their commitment to growing the sector.

He further explained that apart from the 340 fuel tankers that are currently operational, 140 are yet to be licensed, and that by the end of December this year 100 more trucks will be operational.

And Micro Finance Zambia Limited Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer M’Kwinda Sakala says they are ready to partner with local firms in terms of providing financial support.
