Presidential petition adjourned to Monday

The petition against the re-election of Edgar Chagwa Lungu as Republican President by Hakainde Hichilema and Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has been adjourned to Monday at 09:00 hours. When the sitting resumed this morning, the lawyers of both the petitioners and respondents sat before the Constitutional Court which is sitting in the chambers excluding the Media and the public.

According to the source the petitioners [UPND] legal team  has applied to amend the petition and the application will be heard on Monday. Meanwhile the sworn affidavits over the ballot papers have ruled on and the decision still remains a secret as no lawyer is allowed to speak to the media.

And addressing the media after the sitting, UPND Lawyer Gilbert Phiri said the court will inform the nation on the issue of the witness allegedly thrown out of court by the Jury.

There have been no press statements or media briefing regarding the progress of the case  from the lawyers representing both parties but the information still finds its way in the media despite lawyers putting up such faces in front of the court.
