President John Magufuli congratulates President Lungu

UNITED Republic of Tanzania President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli has described the recent dismissal of the Presidential Election Petition by the Zambian Constitutional Court as a reaffirmation by the Zambian people of their choice of His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu as President of the Republic of Zambia.

President Magufuli stated that President Lungu’s victory is a clear testimony of the trust and confidence that the Zambian people have in His leadership and in the Patriotic Front party to lead them and the country to greater heights in pursuit of socio-economic advancement.

In a congratulatory message to the President, Dr. Magufuli reaffirmed His commitment and desire to continue working closely with President Lungu in further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation that exist between Zambia and Tanzania for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.

President Magufuli also congratulated the people of Zambia for turning up en-masse on 11th August to vote and expressing their democratic choice in a peaceful manner.

“It is with great pleasure that l take this opportunity, on behalf of the Government and people of the United Republic of Tanzania, and indeed on my own behalf, to convey to Your Excellency warm greetings and congratulations upon your re-election as the President of the Republic of Zambia, following the General Elections that were held in your country on 11th August, 2016.”

“We in Tanzania are confident that under your able leadership, the close collaboration and excellent relations being enjoyed by our two countries will continue to grow in scope and strength,” President Magufuli said.
