PRESIDENT HICHILEMA HONOURS 10

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has conferred honours and awards to 10 people during this year’s Investure Ceremony at State House as part of Africa Freedom Fay Celebrations.

Among those honoured are Chinese International Relations Professor and Karateka Sensei STEPHEN CHAN for the President’s Insignia of Meritorious Achievement alongside DOREEN  MALAMBO.

EVES SIAME who is Chieftainess WAITWIKA of Nakonde was awarded with the President’s Insignia of Honour, while ACKIM SAKALA was awarded the order of distinguished service First division to be grand commander of the order of distinguished service for his contribution to digitizing the Civil Service.

The traditional leader has been honoured for her role in fighting vices such as under-age marriage and teen pregnancies among others.

Three Zambian soldiers DAVID SANENE SUUBA, OBED KACHENGA and KENNETH KYABA received the President’s Medal for Gallantry for saving 127 Zambian soldiers and Nigerian soldiers during a UN peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone, while Lusaka Trader MERCY CHANGWE received a similar honour for openly supporting democracy.

MALINA CHILILA-MAKHUBAO and VIOLET SIMWANZA were honored with the order of the Grand Companion third division to be the grand commander of the Companion order of Freedom because of their contribution to the fight for independence.
