President Edgar Lungu swears in Ministers

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has sworn in eight Cabinet Ministers and 10 Provincial Ministers and has implored them to remain focused, resilient, humble and hardworking, as time for speeches and promises was over.

President Lungu says not everyone is in support of the new appointments hence it was imperative that the new Ministers employed an all inclusive approach as they carry out their work.

Speaking when He swore in the Ministers at State House today, the President advised the Ministers to work extremely hard because time for speeches and promises was over, and that the people of Zambia were waiting for development to be delivered as outlined in the PF manifesto.

The President warned the Ministers against having a ‘Know it all attitude’ because this was what caused many to fail and stressed the need for them to seek solutions from the Zambian people by employing all inclusive strategies.

President Lungu also highlighted that the performance of the Ministers in the next five years will determine whether the PF government will retain power in the 2021 elections.

The President warned that he will not hesitate to dismiss non-performing Ministers and underscored the need for them to work very hard to avoid being fired.

The President also advised Provincial Ministers to respect and work closely with chiefs in their respective provinces, as traditional leaders were custodians of the development process in various chiefdoms. He expressed dissatisfaction at reports of Ministers who in the past disrespected traditional leaders.

On the appointment of women to Ministerial positions, the President assured that more will be done to ensure that more women are appointed to such positions.
