Prediction: MMD In Pole Position To Take Lufwanyama; UPND Candidate Has Fair Chance

MMD-FM conventionThe opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy may be facing leadership wrangles at national level, the grassroots are still on course with some surprise packages as evidenced from the adopted candidates who have continued posing as serious threat even against ruling party candidates.

Lufwanyama Constituency will see four candidates battling it out in the race to Manda Hill with MMD’s Annie Munshya enjoying good support from the electorates after serving them in the last five years. She is widely expected to retain the seat as she enjoys a lot of support in the constituency.

Others include UPND’s Leonard Fungulwe, Patriotic Front’s Anthanase Kaleleka and Rodgers Chimena of the Rainbow Party.

Annie Munshya – Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD)

She has saved as Member of Parliament in the last Five years, she may not have been the best Member of Parliament but seems to be giving other candidates sleepless nights as she continues to command support in the constituency.

Ms Munshya had to fight court issues after the losing PF candidate petitioned her election, the decision affected her efforts to deliver as she spent much of her time fighting legal battles which she later won in the Kitwe High Court.

During her tenure, Lufwanyama Constituency has seen massive infrastructure development which includes the rehabilitation of the Kalengwa Road, Construction of a Police station, schools and a Hospital. She still feels more needs to be done.

Ms Munshya believes that the implementation of projects under her her cover gives her hope that she will be re-elected in this year’s election.

Leonard Fungulwe – United Party for National Development (UPND)

He has put up a good fight to challenge the only lady in the race and could win it as things stand. Fungulwe is however ridding on the popularity of the party and stands a good chance to challenge Ms Munshya who seems to have jumped in the driving seat early.

Ndola rural continues to be the opposition’s stronghold, so the seat
could either go the MMD or UPND way with the Patriotic Front candidate Athanase Kaleleka and Rainbow Party Candidate Chimena Rodgers struggling to gunner meaningful support.
