POLLING STATIONS CLOSE

Voting has closed with most polling stations countrywide recording a huge turnout and President LUNGU has expressed happiness with the voting turn out in Lusaka.

The Head of state was speaking to journalists after casting his vote at Andrew Mwenya Polling station in Lusaka’s Chawama constituency.

President LUNGU, who was in the company of first lady ESTHER, also called for the maintenance of peace during and after the elections.

Vice President INONGE WINA has expressed happiness at the massive turnout of voters at Silverest Primary School in Lusaka.

Mrs. WINA said it is good to see people lining up in long queues to vote for their preferred candidates.

Speaking shortly after casting her vote, the Vice President said the turnout signifies democracy and its importance.

And People’s Alliance for Change -PAC President ANDYFORD BANDA has expressed happiness with the voter turnout.

Mr. BANDA says the turnout is an indication that Zambians are eager to exercise their democratic rights.

Speaking to ZNBC News In a telephone interview, Mr. BANDA expressed confidence of winning.

Mr. BANDA further urged Zambians to remain peaceful as they wait for the final results.

He also praised the youths for turning out in large numbers to cast their votes.

And Several inmates in various correctional facilities countrywide have for the first time exercised their right to vote following the Amendment of the Constitution.

A ZNBC News crew visited some correctional facilities where several inmates took turns to cast their votes.

Meanwhile, the several Lusaka residents braved the cold to line up to cast their vote at the various polling stations in Lusaka.
