Politicians Accused Of Using Poverty And Illiteracy Among Citizens As Tools To Ascend And Cling On To Power

Development Analyst Charity Musamba has accused some politicians of using poverty and illiteracy among the population as tools to ascend and cling on to power.
Reacting to growing trend as witnessed in the recent past of politicians donating and giving handouts to citizens in the build-up to the 2021 general elections, Dr Musamba said the current scenario is very disappointing as this is being done at the expense of issue-based politics and the many problems that Zambians are facing every day.
And Dr Musamba said this kind of thinking and behaviour by politicians is responsible for the mediocre leadership in some political offices because Zambia is currently having some highly questionable leaders.
She notes with concern that whoever has the financial muscle currently in Zambia can become a leader regardless of their competence.
