POLITICAL DRAMA ENGULFS NDC

The political drama that has engulfed the opposition National Democratic Congress -NDC- following the expulsion and termination of the services of its consultant Chishimba Kambwili has now attracted the attention of parliament.
Malambo Member of Parliament Makebi Zulu rose on a point of order asking the Speaker whether Mr. Kambwili who is PF Roan MP was in order to remain in the house even after he publicly declared that he was a leader of the opposition NDC.
Mr. Zulu who is also a lawyer by profession raised the issue in line with article 72 of the constitution which states that if a member of one party is elected on that party ticket, they cannot join another or stand as an independent.
He referred to the case of the Attorney General versus Movement for Multi-party Democracy-MMD’s-Akashambatwa Mbikusita Lewanika and 4 others.
Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini has since reserved ruling.
Dr. Matibini said he needed time to study the matter as Mr. Zulu had raised issues of factual and legal nature.
Earlier when asked about the reported expulsion, Mr. Kambwili said there is NO political party or organisation where the Secretary General could fire the leader describing the turn of events as a big joke.
Later in the day, NDC Vice President Joseph Akafumba said Mr. Mwenya Musenge’s purported termination of Mr. Kambwili’s services and expulsion had no blessings of the Central Committee.
