POLICE, ZICTA TOLD TO BE FIRM

By Hector Simfukwe:

Deputy Chief whip Tutwa Ngulube has urged the police and Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority   – ZICTA- to be firm on people that are openly advocating for violence and other criminal activities using social media.

Mr. Ngulube says people have continued posting on social media messages that can put the country on fire with impunity.

He told ZNBC NEWS in an interview that the situation may get worse if action is not taken against those who are engaging in such activities.

Mr. Ngulube said messages that promotes criminality will only disappear on social media when people  see that those who are involved are paraded before the courts of law.

He said there are some people who are determined to create confusion in the country and have found safe space on social media to encourage others to commit acts of criminality.
