POLICE URGED TO BE IMPARTIAL AS IT INVOLVES ITSELF IN PF INTERNAL WRANGLES

The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia -EFZ- is advising the Zambia Police to ensure impartiality as it involves itself in the internal wrangles that have rocked the opposition Patriotic Front -PF.
Tensions within the former ruling party have intensified, particularly after Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa’s election as party president in a controversial general conference.
On Monday this week, police also blocked former President Edgar Lungu from accessing the PF secretariat after he announced his return to active politics.
But EFZ President Bishop Andrew Mwenda is hopeful that the state police are not involving themselves in the PF wrangles in support of an individual’s interest but doing so to ensure law and order.
Meanwhile, Bishop Mwenda has advised the opposition PF party to urgently put its house in order as the current wrangles are disturbing the party`s ability to offer checks and balances to the government.
Bishop Mwenda observes that since the wrangles in the PF emerged, the former ruling party has shifted concentration to squabbles in the party at the expense of development.
