POLICE TOLD TO IMPROVE IMAGE

By Justine Akakulubelwa

Livingstone District Commissioner, EUNICE NAWA has implored the Zambia Police in Livingstone to improve the police image.

Mrs. NAWA says it is the desire of the new dawn government to ensure that the image of the Zambia Police Service, which had deteriorated in the past, is rebuilt.

Mrs. NAWA has further advised the police to consider using modern methods, such as technology, to improve security in the Tourist Capital.

She says the recent rise in home break-ins and motor vehicle thefts, if not curbed, have the potential to dent Livingstone’s image.

This is contained in a speech read on her behalf by the District Administrative Officer, HELLEN MWANZA, during the commemoration of the Zambia Police Day.

And Zambia Police Service Officer-Commanding for Livingstone and Kazungula districts, TIMOTHY KAZHINAKAZHI, said his officers are committed to serving people in the two districts with utmost professionalism.

Mr. KAZHINAKAZHI however said rebuilding the image of the police requires the public and police officers to work together.

He has encouraged members of the public to report any officer that will be found wanting.
