By Patricia Banda

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has reiterated the need for the Police to be on high alert and maintain peace as the country is expected to have increased political activities next month.

Mr. Kampyongo has since directed Inspector General Kakoma Kanganja and all provincial Commissioners to ensure that they are on top of things.

The Minister was speaking in Shibuyunji District during the handover of 10 housing units for police officers and a Police Station.

And Mr. Kanganja said the housing units will go a long way in mitigating the challenges of the police in the area.

And Central province Minister Sydney Mushanga said President Edgar Lungu has delivered on infrastructure development.

Meanwhile, Senior Chief Shakumbila of the Ila people stated that he has endorsed the candidature of President Lungu because of the development that has taken place in the area.

He said this in a speech read for him by his representative, Olen Shituwe.

And Shibuyunji District Commissioner Jairos Simukoko has thanked Government for the gesture.
