POLICE TO FIGHT GBV

BY EPHRAIM CHILUBA

Inspector General of Police LEMMY KAJOBA says the police service should reposition itself to fight Gender Based Violence -GBV- cases which have been on the rise.

Mr. KAJOBA said this in a speech read on his behalf by Sikanze Hospital Director Medical GEORGE PHIRI during police cleaning exercise at Sikanze hospital.

The Police Chief also said events such as hospital cleaning serve as a true reflection of the efforts that men and women in uniform render to supplement the balanced workforce which is gender sensitive by ensuring both men and women take an active role in t
e fight against GBV.

The cleaning exercise is in line with the 16 days of activism against GBV under the theme Orange the world, End gender based violence against women.

Speaking at the same event Zambia Police Community Service Department Deputy Coordinator, MARGARET NYUMBU said the department has continued to partner with other stakeholders in carrying out sensitization programs in schools, markets, churches and communities.
