Police, RTSA, Fire Officers Die in Bus Accident Rescue

A POWER Tools Bus coming from Nakonde to Lusaka, has overturned in an area between Mkushi and Serenje. Leaving several people injured. It is alleged that a tyre burst caused the accident and it happened between 23:00 and 01:00 hrs.

Unconfirmed reports reaching Mwebantu states that the Fire brigade, Zambia Police and RTSA officers rushed to the scene to help the trapped and retrieve bodies.

However, whilst carrying out the rescue operation, a truck laden with maize and moving at high speed failed to break and hit into the RTSA tow truck, critically injuring the officers and killing most of them from Fire brigade and RTSA.
