POLICE RECORD CASES DURING N’CWALA CEREMONY

Police in Eastern Province say 18 theft and 9 assault cases were recorded during the just ended Nc’wala traditional ceremony of the Ngoni people in Eastern Province.

Acting Provincial Police commanding officer DAVIS SIMWANZA says most of the cases involved theft of mobile phones at the ceremony.

Mr. SIMWANZA says assault cases were as a result of drunkenness.

He told ZNBC News that no accident was recorded during the actual ceremony which reached its climax on Saturday.

MEANWHILE, Mr SIMWANZA said three people who were implicated in the filming and circulation, of a video were a woman was publicly raped at Chipata Golf course, have been charged with making and publishing obscene material.

He said the suspects who are on police bond will appear in court soon.

Mr SIMWANZA said police have intensified the search for the perpetrator and victim.
