Police record 773 defilement cases in the third quarter of 2019

A TOTAL number of 773 Child defilement cases were recorded in the third quarter of 2019, Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has said.
And Katongo says 133 cases of Rape and 18 attempted rape cases were recorded during the same period under review.
Katongo said out of the total number recorded, three cases were against boys while 770 cases were against girls.
Katongo said Lusaka Province recorded the highest number of child defilement cases with 353 while Central Province had 97 cases, and Eastern Province with 67 cases.
She said Southern Province had 58 cases, Copperbelt Province had 57 cases, Muchinga 41, Northern 28, Western 26, and North Western recorded 22 cases.
Katongo said Luapula Province had 18 cases while Tazara and Airport recorded three cases each.
Meanwhile, Katongo said during the same period under review, 133 cases of Rape and 18 attempted rape cases were recorded.
She said police further recorded 52 cases of Indecent Assault country wide in the previous quarter.
