Police Arrest Post Editor M’membe and His Deputy Joseph Mwenda

M'membe, MwendaPolice have arrested Post editor-in-chief Fred M’membe, his wife Mutinta Mazoka-M’membe and deputy managing editor Joseph Mwenda.

According to information reaching Zambia Reports, M’membe, his wife and Mwenda were among those that went to access the premises of the newspaper following a court order restraining law enforcers from keeping it closed.

Police, however, disregarded the High Court Order on grounds that it was not signed by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).

M’membe allegedly engaged in a physical exchange with the police who were at the premises of his company by midnight.

After the altercation escalated, police offices arrested M’membe, his wife and Mwenda who were bundled in a van and taken to an unknown destination.

The Post is said to owe the revenue authority about K 61 million (about $6. 1 million), according to a Supreme Court decision, but M’membe is disputing the figures and probing reconciliation of the numbers.
