Police Arrest Man For Murdering Wife

Chipata Police in Eastern Province have arrested a male person identified as Godfrey Chomba aged 33 of Shamputa Village, Chief Mwinuna of Mpongwe District for allegedly murdering his wife Isabel Mbewe aged 17 years and his son male juvenile Isaac Mbewe aged two (02) years. A stick and a brick are alleged to have been used in the act.
The incident happened on 28th January, 2018 at about 06 00 hours near Masaiti Farm in Katete District.
Brief facts are that, on the material day, the couple was coming from Masaiti Farm where they were doing some pieces of work and along the way, the suspect begun accusing his wife of having an extra marital affair with his friend and in the process a fight ensued.
Female Isabel Mbewe sustained head injuries, bruises on the back and a cut on her right hand while the son sustained a fractured skull which forced the eye to come out of the socket.
The suspect who was on the run was apprehended by Police officers yesterday 04th February, 2018 at about 22 00 hours from Shansongo village, Chief Nkomesya of Chongwe District where he was hiding.
He has been charged with two counts of murder which is contrary to section 200 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia and will appear in Court soon.
