Police arrest 35 ‘junkies’ in Lusaka’s garden area

Police in Lusaka have arrested 35 suspected junkies who are believed to be behind a spate of attacks on members of the public in Garden Compound.

Zambia Police Deputy Spokesperson DANNY MWALE says officers conducted an operation yesterday which targeted the junkies between 10:00 hours and 15:00 hours.

Mr. MWALE says the suspects are aged between 15 and 25 and they were arrested for the offence of Idle and disorderly conduct.

He says among the suspects, four were found with cannabis and the Drug Enforcement Commission has since been engaged.

Mr. MWALE has told ZNBC news in a Statement that all the suspects are detained in Police custody awaiting court appearance
