Player Ratings Zambia vs Botswana

The Zambia national team on Thursday beat Botswana 2-1 to revive their hopes of qualifying to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The Chipolopolo Boys have missed the last two editions of the prestigious competition and eager to return to the big stage but after a poor start they find themselves in a tricky situation.

The win at home is a small step in the right direction. The game so some amazing performances from most likely man of the match Enock Mwepu and many others and of course there were players who did not live up to expectations.

The ZamFoot Crew now looks at the performance of the players in Thursdays match.

RATINGS

Sebastian Mwenge 5/10- He didn’t have much to do , saved one shot but was partly to blame for the goal Zambia conceded as he did not the Judge the flight of the ball.

Ghamphani Lungu 7/10-He did fairly well,showed alot of attacking ability and was brave on the tackle. Could have even had a goal but only for the side net to deny him.

Tandi Mwape 7/10- He was booked for a hard tackle but was very disciplined after that. He won a lot of his Ariel duels .

Luka Banda 8/10- Brave , aggressive and was very disciplined at the back.Won his Ariel duels in both halves as he almost scored at the other end of the pitch. The Napsa Stars man is really maturing into a brilliant player.

Zakaria Chilongoshi 7.5 – He was very lively on the other side of the pitch and marked his man very well.His crosses were on point and so was he recoverely when needed.

Kelvin Kapumbu 8.0- He was wonderful in the Midfield as he contributed alot of passes and screened the defense very well. The Copper Bullets centre halves were not put under alot of pressure because Kelvin played his role very well.

Enock Mwepu 9.5- He scored the equaliser for Zambia when they needed it the most .He was superb in the Midfield as his passes were amazing .Another impressive aspect of his game was his good positioning and timing as he knew the times to go forward and the times to stay back .He was offensive and defensively disciplined .Man of the match for us.

By the way he arrived on Wednesday afternoon, a day before the match, Shows the quality Micho has in the Redbull Salzburg midfielder.

Augustine Mulenga 5/10- He showed good pace and had a shot off target in the first half but wasn’t lively and did not live up to expectations. One of the two players who disappointed the fans.

Lubambo Musonda 7/10- He was lively and superb on his side of the pitch.Had a number of successful take ons and made an assist .The Captain showed alot of leadership qualities .

Justin Shonga 4/10- Bad day at the office for the South Africa based forward .Missed about two or three sitters and could have made a number of good decisions but was very good off the ball which is a good sign going forward.

Collins Sikombe 8/10- He played well both as a number ten and a winger .His ball distribution was simply fantastic and he capped off his game with a very good finish after that wonderful Fashion Sakala run . He was very intelligent on and off the ball.

SUBS


Fashion Sakala 8/10- Excellent run and assist to give Zambia the lead .He was very good on the ball and dribbled past a number of players on occasions and looking to give Zambia another goal though in the end got booked for simulation.

Klings Kangwa 6/10- He made the highlight of the game as he dribbled passed two players in the second half when he came on .Made good use of the ball and tracked back to help defend on vital games. His set pieces were very good although Zambia failed to capitalize on them.

Coach Micho 8/10- He made a number of bold decisions in terms of his starting line up and went all out attack . He made effective substitutions that eventually won him the game .
