Phiri Tips Business Women

(ZANIS)Gender Minister, Elizabeth Phiri has urged women groupings benefiting from different empowerment programmes initiated by the ministry to improve on branding and packaging if they are to realise real value of their products.Ms. Phiri says the lack of branding and proper packaging of products will result into lower sales among beneficiary groups of the empowerment programmes. She said this when she handed over 41 beehives and four honey processing machines to four women groups at Mishikishi secondary school in Masaiti district.Ms Phiri said through improved branding and packaging, the products will penetrate local and international market. She also implored teachers across the country to help in the monitoring and implementation of government programmes especially those in rural areas.ZANIS reports that Ms. Phiri said teachers must be on top of things in ensuring that government empowerment programmes achieve the intended purpose. And Masaiti District Commissioner, Patrick Zulu said the beehives and honey processing machines will enhance honey production among beneficiary groups in Masaiti and Kafulafuta Constituencies. And representing other women groups, Medan Kolala from Lwansobe Bee Keeping Cooperative commended government for empowering them with beehives and honey processing machines.
