PHARMACEUTICAL PLANT IN KABWE

By Ruth Chayinda:

The International Drug Company Limited is setting up a pharmaceutical plant in Kabwe to help the country avert the drug shortage.

International Drug Company Limited Division Quality Assurance Manager BEATRICE TEMBO says the plant is expected to create about 500 direct and indirect jobs and also provide safe and affordable medicines.

Ms TEMBO says the company is ready to partner with the Government in ensuring that the country has safe quality drugs.

She said this when her company donated 8000- 9000 IV fluids to the Zambia  Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency –  ZAMMSA- to help in the fight against cholera.

And Health Permanent Secretary for administration GEORGE MAGWENDE said Government will support companies that want to set up businesses in the country as long it is within the confines of the law.

Meanwhile, Dr MAGWENDE has thanked International Drug Company Limited for the donation as it will help in the fight against cholera.

He further said the country is currently faced with double edged sword of dealing with COVID-19 and cholera.
