“PF OVER PRICED ROAD CONTRACTS”

By Mary Kachepa

Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister CHARLES MILUPI says many roads and other infrastructure contracts were over prized by the previous administration.

Mr. MILUPI says there is need to bring the cost of projects to the right level.

And Mr. MILUPI says works on the Chikankata Mission road have stalled because of luck of financing.

He says the works will resume once funds are secured.

Mr. MILUPI says the new time frame for the completion of the road works will be established once funds are secured and a new contractor found.

He says the previous contractor Inyatsi Zambia Limited which was contracted in 2015 to upgrade the road to bituminous standard is still being owed over 12-million kwacha for certified works done.

Mr. MILUPI says over 7 million kwacha was paid to the contractor.

He says the contract was terminated on September 30th 2017, following request by the contractor to terminate owing to delayed payment of certified works.

Mr. MILUPI said this in the National Assembly in response to Chikankata Member of Parliament JAQUELINE SIMBAO who wanted to find out why the tarring of the Chikankata Mission Road in Chikankata District stalled.
