PF FACES DEREGISTRATION

By Mark Ziligone

The Registrar of Society has threatened to deregister the Patriotic Front for NOT complying with the Societies Act.

The Registrar of Societies has cited the failure by the Patriotic Front to comply with the Order to avail a full and complete list of the Office Bearers.

This is according to a letter to the PF’s Secretary General dated 25th April, 2023 and signed by the Chief Registrar of Society, THANDIWE MHENDE.

Ms. MHENDE says while it is a legal requirement for every society to avail 10 Office bearers the PF has ONLY presented three bearers since 2021.

BUT, PF Information and Publicity Chairperson, RAPHAEL NAKACHINDA who confirmed the development told ZNBC News that the reasons raised by the registrar of society in the notice of intention to deregister the PF are NOT convincing and are based on misinformation.

He said the party will respond the registrar of society and ensure that all issues are clarified.

Mr. NAKACHINDA said it is unfair for the registrar to issue a notice in that manner when most issues are administrative .

He further alleged that people are pushing for the deregistration of the party and want to suppress the opposition in the country.

And Home Affairs Permanent Secretary, JOSEPHS AKAFUMBA says every society needs to comply with the Societies Act.

Mr. AKAFUMBA says the Notice of Intention by the Registrar of Societies to the PF, is in order because the PF was given the initial 21 days to avail the Office Bearers.

He says the PF failed to comply with the order.

In an interview to ZNBC News, Mr AKAFUMBA said the PF must make good with the SEVEN days to ensure they comply with the requirements of the act.
