Petitioners’ lawyers leave Court room

Lawyers representing Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba in the petition case have walked out of the Constitutional Court which is in session.

Lawyer John Sangwa asked to leave the court saying  he won’t be able to defend the constitution. This is due to the way proceedings have been conducted.

Another lawyer Musa Mwenye has also left saying he is unable to discharge his duties as counsel for the petitioners.

They were given only 2 hours to present their petition and present all witnesses.

Jack Mwiimbu, Nelly Mutti and Martha Mushipe have also left.

By press time the Court had granted the lawyers to leave the court room.

This is in case where Hichilema is challenging the validity of the reelection of Edgar Lungu.

The Constitutional Court has ruled that the case should be concluded by 23:59  at the end of 14 days as stipulated by the Constitution.
