Petition delays again

court-250x180The petition before the Constitutional Court challenging the re-election and subsequent declaration  of Edgar Chagwa Lungu  as Republican President has  suffered another set back and it has  since been adjourned to tomorrow Thursday August 25th, 2016 at 10:00hrs.

When the matter came up this afternoon, the Court heard that the petitioners (UPND) had not served their summons to the Attorney General Likando Kalaluka. The case was adjourned yesterday to enable the petitioners serve the documents to Kalaluka who joined the case.

The matter which was deliberated in chambers took 1 hour.

When asked to comment on the proceedings, UPND lawyer Keith Mweemba said he could not give out any content regarding the closed door preliminary sitting as the Law Association of Zambia has warned against that.

The matter which came up for hearing this afternoon has since been adjourned to tomorrow 10:00hrs.

The matter is expected to be concluded in 14 days time as the inauguration has been put on hold pending the petition.
