PARTIES PREPARE TO ANNOUNCE KABWATA CANDIDATES

Some political parties contesting the Kabwata Constituency by-election slated for January 20, 2022 are today expected to announce their candidates.

UPND Deputy Secretary General GETRUDE IMENDA says the party is going through the final round of selection and that the adopted Candidate for Kabwata will be announced by tomorrow in readiness for nominations on Tuesday this week.

Ms IMENDA has explained that after the announcement the party will go flat out into campaigns to explain to the people how UPND will improve the economy.

She has told ZNBC News in an interview that the people of Kabwata will AGAIN vote for the UPND candidate because they want change.

And, PF Member of the Central Committee BRIAN MUNDUBILE said the party will this afternoon sit and select a candidate who will represent PF in the by-election.

Mr. MUNDUBILE said the party has already laid a foundation of development having held the seat for a long time.

He said this time, the party wants to ask the people in the constituency what they want to be done through peaceful campaigns.

Meanwhile, Economic and Equity Party President CHILUFYA TAYALI, who is also an aspirant for Kabwata Constituency parliamentary by-election says his focus will be to improve the welfare of young people who he said are in numbers.

Mr. TAYALI further explained that he plans to lobby government for retirees in Kabwata to get paid, once voted as a Member of Parliament.
