Parents Kill Child During Fight For Sex

POLICE in Chembe have arrested a couple of Chief Kasomalwela’s area for allegedly causing the death of their child after falling on it during a fight after the wife refused to have sex with her husband.
Luapula Province commissioner of police Elias Chushi has called on husbands to respect the feelings of their wives.
Mr Chushi said the incident happened on Wednesday around 22:00 hours in Mambilima Village in Chembe District

“Police in Chembe received a report of suspected murder from Ackson Mulenga 43, of chief Kasomalwela in which a couple allegedly killed their two year, seven months old baby,” Mr Chushi said.

He said Lewis Miyanda and his wife Brenda Mumba has a domestic dispute after the wife refused to have sex with her husband because she was recovering from a miscarriage which occurred three weeks ago.

Unfortunately as they were fighting in the bedroom, one of them fell on their child Mildred Miyanda who was sleeping on the bed, and she died on the spot, “he said.

Mr Chushi said the body of the victim has been taken to Mansa General Hospital awaiting postmortem.

He said the couple is in police custody at Chembe police post.

“I wish to remind my fellow husbands to respect the rights of their wives. It is very unfortunate to lose a child in this manner,” he said.

Mr Chushi said it is sad that Miyanda could not understand when his wife told him that she was recovering from a miscarriage and decided to force her, causing death of their child.
