OVER 2000 BENEFICIARIES IN LUNTE TO ACCESS SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER

The department of Social Welfare in Lunte District of Northern Province has received 500,000 Kwacha Social Cash Transfer bi-monthly fund meant for over 2000 beneficiaries.This came to light during the commencement of the disbursement exercise conducted in Vincent Bulaya and Shibwalya Kapila villages of Lunte District.And Lunte District Commissioner, Ronald Mulenga has cautioned beneficiaries of the social Cash transfer scheme against misusing the funds.Mr. Mulenga noted that the social Cash transfer funds if well utilized, can help to break the poverty cycle and foster productivity among beneficiaries.And District Social Welfare Officer, Blessing Musopelo disclosed that the money being disbursed is for the January – February 2020 period.Meanwhile, the beneficiaries have thanked government for releasing the funds.One of the beneficiaries, 89-year-old Nathan Kabasa said government should be commended for the gesture saying the funds are making a positive impact on their lives.
