OPERATIONS AT BLACK MOUNTAIN RESUME

By Joy Siatubi

Operations at the Black Mountain in Kitwe have resumed following the confusion that characterized the mining site this week.

But hand pickers are still NOT happy despite being allocated specific locations from where they’re supposed to pick the chrome.

They claim the material that the chrome operators are dumping for them does not contain any valuable material in it.

This came to light when Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE toured the Black mountain today, to check on operations at the mine.

And Mr. KABUSWE has directed the operators to ensure they address the concerns of the pickers.

He said the hand pickers should be given the right material which contains chrome, unlike being given a raw deal.

The Mines Minister stated that the government does not want lawlessness at the mining site, where the lives of the pickers are endangered.

He called for patience from the hand pickers, saying he will meet their representatives to deliberate on their concerns.

And Ramoji Resources Limited Director RAO HAUNMAN has explained that the pickers will be given the best chrome once the benching process is done.
